    Shed Hunting In Illinois

I have been deer hunting in Illinois for over 10 years now. Today I was told by a fellow Illinois hunter that it is illegal to shed hunt in Illinois. I argued with him for some time about this. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

No it is not illegal in IL to shed hunt.
It is illegal to take sheds off of some state parks, I believe. ( as mushrooms too )
You need to check each sites regulations, to see if it is allowed, at each park.

Most parks that don't allow any removal of anything usually have it pretty well posted ...If it's a new park for me I always check at the park office and see what the rules are..
Some have designated ecological areas that are off limits , but other areas aren't..so Lynn is right, it's best to always check.

I believe if you find a skull with the antlers still attached, then the antlers have to be tagged. Sheds by themselves don't need a tag. Both are legal though to hunt and find in Illinois. If your still not sure call your local DNR in your district
I’ve always believed the real worth of handcrafted game call lies in its artistic qualities. No two handcrafted game calls are exactly alike, in sound or in appearance. Every call is a unique creation. So when you purchase a handcrafted game call, you’re not only getting a great sounding call—you’re getting a one-of-a-kind piece of art.
