Mountain lion sighting confirmed in Missouri

JEFERSON CITY, Mo. -- State conservation officials have confirmed the sighting of a mountain lion in northwest Missouri.
The Conservation Department says a photograph taken last week by a Platte County landowner clearly shows a mountain in a tree on his property. The department also identified claw marks and collected hair samples from where the mountain lion was perched.
The department says it receives dozens of reports each year from Missourians claiming to have seen a mountain lion. But of more than 1,500 such reports received since 1994, just 11 have come with enough evidence to confirm the presence of a mountain lion. That figure includes the recent Platte County sighting.

The Conservation Department says there have been no documented cases in Missouri of mountain lions attacking livestock, people or pets.

This one shows a pic of a mountain lion in a tree but not sure if this is the actual photo. Too bad one of the Silo members hasn't got definitive proof yet. But its getter closer.

    Randolph County Cougar

This was about a 1000 yds. from my house. Several of my neighbors say they have sightings since this recorded kill.

Now, the tough part is getting good solid proof of recent encounters. Its easy to say one see's one but proof is difficult.

Well, someone's bound to get one on a trail cam sooner or later around here. I visited my son in San Diego, CA a week and a half ago and we took a little trip up to some cabins an hour away. They have a little ranger station their and they had a couple pictures of a mountain lion from a trail cam that was set up right behind the campsite taken the day earlier. Needless to say, my mind started playing tricks on me as we were hiking around the area
