    Tarantula In Southern Illinois?

Surely not, but this spider was as big as the palm of my hand. Some kind of Wolf Spider perhaps.

How bout a close-up. (note the red fang)

    Awesomely cool shots BF!
It is light that reveals, light that obscures, light that communicates. It is light I "listen"
to. The light late in the day has a distinct quality, as it fades toward the darkness of
evening. After sunset there is a gentle leaving of the light, the air begins to still, and a
quiet descends. I see magic in the quiet light of dusk. I feel quiet, yet intense energy in
the natural elements of our habitat. A sense of magic prevails. A sense of mystery. It is
a time for contemplation, for listening - a time for making photographs.

Where do you find these things???? That is too cool - especially the red fang!

Wow! That is cool how even though I don't think I'm skeerd of spiders, those pics still give me the heebie jeebies.

The close up is cool. Look at the eyes. Amazing!

Now I'm going to have nightmares in my sleep.

Hopefully she could at least refer you to someone who could ID this beast.

    Might be worth a shot.

those darn things creep me out!!! give me snakes and any other little creepy crawly out there just keep spiders away from me, especially those little black ones in the timber, you know the ones i am talking about, you always have them crawling around on your head in the summer.

There was some crazy big old spider up here by Holiday Shores that was ID'd as some South American spider they said must have came in with some fod shipments. It was a big old dude like that too! Very poisonous!

I'll be honest...I might have given him the old SSS treatment... :eek
