Monday marks the start of the Pennsylvania Rifle season for Whitetailed Deer. I know there are not alot of Pa residents on this site but just wanted to let anyone who is interested in hunting the beautiful state of Pa how it is here. I for one will be tucking myself in a small private woodlot about one half an acre in between a bedding area and almost one thousand acres of State Game Land which will be polluted with all sorts of crazy hunters slinging high powered weapons ready to down the first deer they see. One good thing is that the State issued an antler restriction 4 years ago to at least three points on one side. I agree totally with this and have seen results already. If you plan on hunting rifle season in Pa. try to hunt with an outfitter or find access to private land. There are tons of deer that can run in any direction they want and cover miles of distance. The pressure the State land recieves is too much for me. It has come to the point that I rarely go anywhere near Public land and I take my bow instead. There is some areas of State land that cover large tracts of land in the North and West part of the state that can be accessed with less chance of seeing blaze orange everywhere but you have to be willing to walk awhile off of the beaten trail. Anyway just thought I'd share some advice. If you have any questions about hunting or fishing in Pa. let me know.
Well It's 0705 am, and there are now almost 1 million PA pumpkins in the woods hoping for the best. Lotta lead gonna be flyin soon. Be careful out there, and let us know how it goes.
It is now Wednesday night and the body count is now at one. A Wellsville man (the town I lived in last year) ACCIDENTLY shot himself while walking in the woods on monday. Apparently he was carrying a large caliber handgun when it went off and entered his left lung and exited the right side of his neck. "The Pennsylvania State Police could not recover the round fired." DUH! Another Pa. man hunting in the Philadelphia area had shot a doe. He waited the typical half hour to recover his deer. When he was about to get out of his tree stand three armed hunters approached him and told him to unload his rifle and lower it to the ground. Then they took his deer. That's all for today's update. I'll post more amazing stories from the ARMY OF ORANGE in Penn's Woods.
