I keep telling you all you don't need 20 lb line.

That thing is a freak of nature... ugly fish.

that might be but i would rather have the rensurence of the big line to back me up plus you try pulling a big fish out of a big laydown tree with 6 pound line its really doubtful you'll get him in

Its not the poundage that affects the fishing....Its the cover your fishing in. I've used 8-10lb line for years, but when i started fishing for bass mostly and in heavy matted grass or lilypads you just need some more power to get em out. :) I've landed a 18lb pike on 8 pound line when fishing for walleye, so yea u can do alot with the line if you set up your reel right. Just a lil more confidence and a lil quicker too. Also i get snagged A LOTTTTT throwin cranks where they shouldnt be thrown lol so the heavy line helps get some of em back.

Yeah, that's what you meant to say. Right.

Yes you can get 'em in with light line. The flathead my wife caught was on 8 pound line. It all depends on where you're fishing and what you catch. I've had some fish snap 8 pound line like it was nothing, then pulled in fish much bigger than what the line was rated for (using a landing net of course).
