by now many of you may have heard about the states plan to swap 5000 acres of pyramid state parkto developer toney watkins, so he could build a branson style theme park. a main chunk is the superlake refuge. a refuge that will have more than 100,000 ducks and geese filter through during the season. the bill hb29 is being pushed through by rep. dan reitz in the house, democrat, and republican senator dave leuchtefeld. this needs to be stopped. the fact that the state would just give away our public park land is disgusting. this is our park. of course all hunting and fishing would cease here. if you don't hunt here and think it doesn't concern you, you are wrong. it affects all outdoorsmen. this could set an ugly precedent. more parks could be taken by seedy developers. more public hunting and fishing areas could be in jepordy. please contact your elected officialsthis bill should be tabled. if you want to read more go to the illinois refuge page on duckhunter.net. some of us are contacting everyone who can help us fight it we can. so far we have contacted du, delta waterfowl,SCI. southern ill does need to be developed but not at this price. pleade contact anyone you can to help us fight. the american bottoms and the illinois sierra club are already trying to stop it. please lets all join forces and stomp this BS bill out.

Heard on the radio this morning that all this info. on pyramid wasn't to be known by anyone but our state officials.Our great chicago GOV. of this state is the one ram rodding this whole thing and now has put a gag order on this thing so no more info. leakes out,according to the news on the radio.Old (dig a ditch) sure nows how to stick it to the little guy who wants to beable to enjoy something nice & free for their families to enjoy.

Time to pay a personal visit to the fellas...drop by their respective offices or better yet make an appointment. Senator Luechtefeld will listen, and if he doesn't agree he'll tell you so. At least they are approachable fellows.

i jsut saw somthing on on the news about this and its going to suck they want more people tahn hunting and camping ground they say its a good amusment park but not a good develpment we need to start a petition on this event this sucks i was goign to hunt down there this year but if this thing passes then they could start this fall they are having little branson down there and they are having a bmx race track to practice for the 2008 olompics i am so pissed off right now this blows badly

This has been a bone of contention between the state and him ever since the first time he was elected. Now the press is finally telling how their little darling boy is squandering our tax dollars on his daily flights (and not on a commercial airliner either) between his home in Chicago and his office in Springfield. Problem is the jokes on us. How any Illinois sportsman could have voted for this guy the first time is beyond understanding. How he got in the second time shows just what bad shape this state is in.
