Bob was right - get outside, the weather was great.

The weather forced me into getting to the woods. The Creek was bank full from all the melting snow and the dirt was mud (I knew better than to step into the field we had that was V ripped - I could loose a leg up to the knee.)
My plan was simple - Take the new 17 HMR to the woods with my backpack loaded ( bullets, Camera's, extra batteries, coyote calls, knife). I was set.

I walked 40 acres to get to the woods and the wind was blowing a bit hard (nothing could possible have heard me). I start looking for shed when I think - now is time to coyote hunt. I sit down get my stuff out and start calling. I was not prepared when 2 coyotes nearly ran into me. I think they were racing each other to the nest meal. They got within 15 feet of me, I pulled up the gun and like Barney Fife I started firing. Fired a shot missed, chambered the next bullet and fired (Coyote can do 0-60 in half a shot.) I missed! Back to shed hunting.

I walk another 40 acres and enter a new woods and decide to call. At this location nothing comes. So I decide to move again. I start to notice that some beast of the wild is damaging trees. See the damage?

But wait, whats that to the right of the damaged tree. (Look at the photo above again.)

Is it? It is.

Oh, but wait again. Not only is it one but look again.

Yep, he dropped them both within 10 feet of each other.

Grab them and move along until I find another item.

What is this creature?

Leave it for nature to take care of.
I move along to find that nature has a way of cleaning itself up.
It uses every organism to get the dirty work done.
A log with healthy mushrooms being nurished by a fallen tree.

I then head home to a setting sun with more nature in it just soaking up the sun for the last time of the day.

And just like in Blazing Saddles - they head off into the sunset.

The END!

P.S. - Another Story tomorrow.
