When I saw it lying like this I realized it was not fresh

But, not bad for what I would guess is a 2 ˝ year old. Five points and slightly palmated after the G3. Like to find his from this year…

I also came across this dead yote. I guess in the end a yote falls victim to the same treatment as the many carcasses it has scavenged in its lifetime.

thats one of those odd finds where ya cant tell if its this or last years. Its got sooooo much color left to it. And it appears to be under hardwoods so its hard to imagine no chews in a year but the ends are pretty stained. Its hard to tell!

I always judge it by the burr (I think there is another word instead of burr, just can think of it, does it start with a P), fresh ones are almost always bleach white. Previous years always seem dull and gray. Looks like hardwoods but really along edge of small field. Side that was face up had a lot of bleaching from the sun and has a few chew marks from small rodents.

The word you were looking for is pedicle.

Old sheds are stronger and harder if you are going to use them for a billett or handles.Howard
