Thinkin about maybe Squirrel hunting this year
Only been Squirrel hunting a couple times. Little buggers drive me crazy bow hunting...

What would you recomend? Rifle .22? or shotgun 410?
Wood or composite stock?
Scope or open sights?
Looking for suggestions..

Thanks! :)

I use whatever tickles my fancy that day... if sitting take the rifle, if walking take the 410. Wood or composite? Who cares as long as it goes boom!
Scope if you got one for the 22. If not that ok too. Still fun!

I have 1000s of dollars in rodent guns. And about as much in scopes for them. Ruger 77s 3 of them. Anshutze 2 of them. I was actually thinking the same thing. To put out a line of cameras.... get out the guns and rodent hunt through the woods while checking them every other day. 410s suck because of the pellets in them when ya clean them. they also bust leg bones which makes them taste bad. But then again they are moving alot this time of year traveling soooo it kinda depends.

I've been using a .22 on them only this year, just wanted to have fun with it. .410's work good and I have used a 20 gauge alot, only bad thing about a shotgun is like Harvey said it busts up bones, plus it makes it too easy.

I like me a .410. Seriously, you're gonna get some shot around, but if you're careful, the shotty works just fine.

22 Mag w/a 3x9 lets ya reach out and poke them. Solid core makes for nice clean meat shots.

With them on the ground and letting you get a bit close - A .410 will allow you to get more than one as they run up the tree.

With a .22 you can shoot a bit of a distance as you walk the edge of the woods.

Its what ever you want to use.

If you got some distance then a 22 mag or 17 might be a in consideration but a bit of damage will happen.

Marlin .17 mach 2 or .17HMR for me. I absolutely love the accuracy of the .17. If you argue the accuracy then you don't have one or you have one with a bent barrel, or you need glasses. Some guy told me that they tear 'em up too bad, so I said what do you use? He said, a 20 gauge. Case closed!

Fungus I've been pondering that same question today, if we find we aren't related we prolly would get along great! I see he also had good taste in reloading equipment, his bench looks very similar to mine don't if Fungus? Too bad he's one of them dern lefties!

We got the same set up, just haven't used it this year, we are using Remington 40gr PSP rounds. I will probably go out next weekend when deer season is done with (and hopefully a bit warmer).
