Has anybody here used Cosequin for the dogs? My budy's lab had kind of slowed up a bit last year and was a bit reluctnat to retrieve. He's ben using the horse Cosequin in smal quantities every day and that dog is likea young pup again. I'm going to get some for my lab very soon as I can tell he's gettinga bit arthritic. This stuff is major expensive but I am realy impresed with the results.

Don't know your particular situation or the dogs age, but the dog may be letting you know it's time for retirement?

hmmm I haven't used it.. but Dolly's starting to get a little stiff after her morning excursions and her leaping off of things.. (decks, docks, any stationary object..she thinks she can fly:rolleyes:) I'll have to remember that for future reference

Both dogs are only 6 and are 10% except for the bit of stiffness. Mine typically runs abt 3 miles a day so I suspect he has a bit of wear and tear.

The sources that sell cosequin will tell you to only buy from them to get top quality, but I believe that is BS. The human supplements are of good quality if bought from a good company. I give my older Llewellin one capsule 500-400 per day, and it helps his arthritis. Cosequin costs at least three times as much as it's worth.

Who makes the combo of chondroitin sulfate, glucosamine hydrochloride and manganese ascorbate ina human suplement? I've done some research about using human supplements on dogs as I have a fear of the toxicity of some human supplements such as those that contain iron and zinc. The results considering the permeability of the supplements is an issue to me as a supplement that isn't absorbed is a waste of $$ in my mind. Higher permeablility = better results and probably saves $$ as well. Thoughts?
