SILO Christmas CampFire HoDown?



I was thinking 'bout a rally round the Winter CampFire, cook some food over some hot coals, drink a few beverages with anti-freeze qualities.
I'm thinkin' bout Friday December 27th, location; Huntrz Deercamp, located approx. 35 miles SE of St. Louis. this is something Fungus and I were going to get together and do, just thought I'd see if anyone else is interested, PM me if your interested, for more info.

well, it looks like there is a 50% chance for rain on Friday, if it looks like it's going to rain all day my place will be out, no shelter and it would be a muddy mess, I'm game, but not sure how many others are. so, we might need a back up plan, location in case it is raining, something with a shelter. I'm open for suggestions. it would be nice if was in the same general area, near Marissa, which is probably closer to most of you coming than it is for me, but I'm game for anywhere.

Down here the lodge is a nice place to meet and chill for a while as well as a few of the wineries.......IDK what u all got up there......lol

There's plain old picnic ground style shelters at the park in Marissa.. and there's Jim and Cindy's Bar.. they'd probably shuffle us all off to the back half..or Main Street Bar in Marissa ( both have pool tables LOL) The closest state Park would be RCCA or Peabody (the gov didn't close any parks down here, just the historical sites ) And the big Shelter down at RCCA.. Hanft Park in NA also has some shelters..
IDK.. what do you guys think? I realize that sitting a bar kind of defeats the purpose.. There's also babes in Lenzburg, Jan's in Schuline.. Hey - wonder if the barge wll be open? I know they will be on New Years day..

I am all about this party! Adam and I will be in attendance after waterfowling that am. If necessary we may all be able to come to Bob's house! I have a garage to stand in, a kerosene blast heater if really cold, and a fire pit we could use in the driveway!

If however you make any comments about my junked up garage you will be asked to leave. (It is hunting season and I don't have time for such trivialities as cleaning right now.)

I think we need to see what the weather does.. I'm still up for anything but now Dodees got the flu real bad and I don't know when I'm going to come down with it. The kids had it about a week and a half ago, at least I hope it was the same as this cause I would hate for them to get this. Dodee was up for an hour last night throwing up in the shower. My Brother and his family had it three days ago and it only last 24 hours. I feel ok but that could change any time. Huntrz said if it rains it would be to muddy to have it out at his place. As long as I don't get sick we are up for going anywhere and doing anything.

Right now the forecast is for isolated thunderstorms and around 60 degrees. We need to look at a covered area.

Fun, I hope Dodee's feeling better real soon and that you don't catch it too.

OK, looks like it's supposed to be drizzling or raining all day, so we are definitely going to move it to Randolph County Conservation Area, I will head over there first thing in the morning and see which shelter we can get. pm me if you're planning on coming with your cell number and I will call everyone when I know exactly where we will be.

Our plans! Boyz going huntin in am, take nephew back home, visit chitown folkz that are here, drop kiddos off at sitter , head up to RCCA later on...
It will prolly take almost 2 hours or so ( bank and gas stop 2) ...Hopefully I get there before dark! :D

We had a great time too. It was great getting to meet folks we hadn't met yet and get together with people we already knew. There are no strangers, only friends we haven't met yet.

Thanks everybody. Huntrz is the one who deserves all the thanks. We where just going to get together and roast a few dogs and sit around the fire. He provided the wood, got us the shelter, and made the post to invite everybody and I'm glad he did . It was great to get out and hang out with so many great folks. Dukes jalapeno sausage was super and so was Huntrz deer sausage. Everybody got together and brought something that made for a great time. I think some folks thought that squirrel was going to turn out tough or under done but once I coated it in sweet baby rays and took my time to roast it through and through everybody wanted a chunk and there was not on piece left. Huntrz got one of the back straps and i got the other.:D

Yea, I was EYEING that squirrel right before we left and it was really lookin good!

We had a great time..Thanks Huntrz-Fun and who ever else that helped! Had a pretty nice turn out!! It was nice to see some new faces show up....:D
That shelter worked out pretty good.....What a nice night to be out with friends by the fire! I think Deno brought a truck load of nutz...lol.........what a nice guy!!! And dukes sausage was really good on some crackers!!! There was lots of goodies brought out and everything I tried was yummy!!

Looks like yall had a good time. It's not that I am antisocial and I would have been there but I am bound and determined I am going to find a load to shoot well in my .243 and saturday was a good day to work on it. Might have it narrowed down now so I may be social again in a few days.

Am I thine Pecans keeper? :confused: Well am I?? Deno personally handed me one bag of pecans and I layed it on the table and someone took it and opened it and everybody ate some. When Dodee got there there was only a couple of bags left in that Wal-Mart sack and everybody sitting at that table told her to take them. Then you blame me of taking them. I never took any. Nobody made out like a "fat rat" . You took it upon yourself to be the pecan cop and was not even there when others took some then blamed me and Critter. You right Critter took it very well. When Deno pulled his NUTZ outta da bag and threw them on the table, I knew we were in for a treat, he said "I brought some NUTZ if ya'all want some, if there's not enuff I have more", well, I grabbed my NUTZ right away, threw them in the cooler and slammed the lid on them! I saw that someone had cut a bag open, figured they were just sharin' their NUTZ with the rest of us, I tried some, and let me tell you, these weren't ordinary NUTZ, theze were SILO PEE-KANZ! and they were GOOD! well it was a BIG BAG O' NUTZ that Deno brought, don't know how many were in there, I figured there wuz plenty to go around, so when my wife got there, I asked her if she got NUTZ? she said no, well let me tell ya, my wife LUVZ NUTZ! especially PEE-KANZ, I guess she must of grabbed someones NUTZ, cuz when I got home there were TWO BAGZ of NUTZ in my cooler, still didn't think there was a problem, seemed to be plenty.

So, if someone feels like they got shorted in the NUTZ department, I can share mine. :D I guess maybe I got more than I deserve.

I doubt we'll be up for much of a party.. but if you're going to be up here I'll be happy to take you the waterfowl spots either Friday afternoon or EARLY ( like daylight) Saturday morning :) maybe even snag a few eagles down at the river too..

I already got plans friday morning and saturday but friday night is open.....But it seems like everyone has to work and such so maybe ill just go on to Saint Louis.......not a big deal......:D
