For those of you who still want to get out limits of Sauger are for the taking right now. Four of us fished below the Newburg,In dam Saturday and had our limit in about 4 hours. The fish ran in the 1 1/2 range and all males. The big females should be moving up in the next couple of weeks!!! We fished in 40' to 25' foot of water bouncing a 1/2 ounce white & chartruse curly tail rig tipped with a minnow. The Sauger are gourging on shad as I type. The action should remain good the rest of the year. I would guess these fish can be had below any dam at this time. I will report back as I plan to fish below John T Myers later this week. A sauger deepfried is as good as crappie in my book!!

Got a new way for you to try em....

Put them in a light egg wash, then roll them in crushed up Ritz crackers, pan fried in some butter/oil.... unbelievable, WAY better than any crappie in my book!
