Just got back from the Fla. Keys and did pretty good on Stingray. Weather was a little cool and they stayed deep. But was able to collect 2, the biggest just a hair under 80lbs. Great fights and great eating!

Not exactly your typical Illinois type fish. My wife would love eating that though. She's from Korea and that's one of her favorites.

I heard once a Bull Shark got into Illinois waters up the Miss, so who knows!
They are great eating fish. Many who try my deep fried ray strips, or ray and pineapple BBQ Kabobs say its some of the best fish they have had.

Naw.....thats just the finishing touch done with a 3in paring knife taped to a broom handle. Gotta make sure they are dead before hauling them in the boat. As big as they are they are surprisingly tough to shoot as you are shooting through 3-4 ft of water. One of them I got in the left wing, the other in the snout.

Real easy. They are flat sharks actually. Same family, so they dont have any bones. The wings are solid meat with a cartilage layer right in the middle. You just cut down where the wing meat meets the body until you hit the cartilage, then turn your blade and fillet down toward the wing tip. cut off the meat chunk, flip it over and fillet off the skin. They are great eatin with no bones! I make letter openers out of their stingers after soaking them in bleach. Not trying to sound like a commercial for www.illinoisbowfishing.com but we have 2 step by step "How To`s" in the How To section on cleaning them with pictures. Lots of good info in there.

Here is one of the stingers after bleaching............
