November 7th was the date this year. Right after work on that Friday, I rushed home to get ready to go hunting. The tempature dropped 10 degrees from the night before and it was a breezy cloudy day. We ended up getting out there late at about 3:30. On the way into the stand we walk a railroad track into the spot we hunt, which is public hunting. We hunt private land that buts up to the public land but i shot this buck on the public property. The railroad track splits the public from private. I went hunting with my brother and while we were walking down the tracks my brother got my attention because there was a 8 pointer off the edge of the railroad tracks. It was about 135 inch 8 pointer and he was nudging a group of does. The train bed is about 30 feet tall so we were looking down on the deer. So i got ready and started stalking it down the tracks. I got parallel with the deer which was about a 30 yard shot. The only problem was I didnt have a open shot. It was to thick to put an arrow through the thick brush. So i had to sit and watch the deer walk off with the does not knowing i was there. So after I saw how he was with the does i decided to spray code blue doe estrous on a drag rag and drag it the rest of the way into the stand. So i finally got into my stand and my brother had a climber so he started climbing up the tree next to me as i was getting everything ready up in my stand. He got half way up the tree and took a picture as i was still getting ready. He finally got all the way up the tree and i got his attention as i saw horns pop out of the thickit behind us. I grab my bow and get ready as my brother still don’t really know whats going on. The buck jogs right to us and never knows that we were there. I tried to stop him and he came to a walk so i tried to stop him again and he stopped finally. I got my shot off at a 12 yards at 4:06pm. that afternoon. I rough scored him at 144 and 3/4s as a 11 pointer.
