We cleaned up on some nice bull bluegill today at Crab, and had them on a stringer laying in the water. Well when I went to pull them out there was a huge snake sittin up there right with em. It had coloration like a water moccassin but I wasnt sure if thats what it was. I couldnt tell if it had gotten ahold of any of them but was wondering if it did get ahold of them, and it is a venemous snake are the filets still good to eat.

My question would be...are my underwear still okay to wear as I think the stringer would be on the bottom of the lake..LOL

I wouldn't trust it. Can't never be too safe. I had that happen to me back in South Carolina but he snake took the string!
I've had that happen to me before at crab too. 17 inch bass layin on a stringer while i was walkin the bank. when i got ready to leave the snake had it about 3 inches in front of the tail, idk what he was thinking. But i let the bass go. I can't believe how aggresive them snakes can get.

We started putting our fish in floating fish baskets quite a while back. It's a lot harder for the snakes to get at them, and by the time they do you can usually chase the snake off (at least for a few minutes) by throwing some rocks from the bank at it.
