View Full Version : Black 'yote!
A guy I work with killed this Black 'Yote Friday morning, he said it was running with 4 other black ones, he thought maybe all from the same littler.
I know, I know DeBunk, "this thread is worthless without photos"
so here's a few pics...

I have seen 2 killed black coyotes when I hunted with a group (inc. Goat Roper) years ago.
I think its great that you have a photo.
It must be a rare recessive trait as they are few. The ones the guys I hunted with had the hides tanned and kept them. It cost a bit much to do a full body mount but a bear style rug for the wall is cool.
Again, thanks for the photo :D - it tells the story almost by itself.
This one is going to end up as a full body mount, this guys office is COOOL, deer heads, Yote skullz, turkey feet, a bobcat swiping at a quail, lots of cools mounts.
wolfgang 11-09-2008, 22:57 I remember seeing some when we lived on the farm, they stuck out real good when they crossed a field though.
Wow what a story....I thought I see one last year but wasn't 100% sure it wasn't something else!
Cool, that is the first black on I have ever seen even if it was just in a photo.
flatlander 11-10-2008, 08:31 Where did he kill the bobcat ?
Thats a nice yote, any dead yote is a nice yote. :D
tater262 11-10-2008, 14:41 Thats a nice one. Haven't seen a black coyote in years.
I thought they were black just a certain time of year. Shawnee College has a full body mount of one.

They get to be a very dark brown, but not as much as a black one. They didn't seem to rare on the farm and hunting I see them, must be that they don't get killed out there so by the time one dies a another one has been born.
Where did he kill the bobcat ?

He kills all his bobcats in Missouri, where he is from, and where it is legal,
and is ate up with Yote hunting, I think he would rather Yote hunt than deer hunt, and killed a nice buck in Missouri last month.
Here's a drawing I found last year of a black yote.....that looked like what I saw but he was too fast for my cam and I had it ready of my lap.....He turned around for a sec to see what was coming and then when I raised the camera up he took off in the woods....

I wouldn't mind yote hunting more, especially since deer firearm season is only 3 weekends (4 if you use muzzleloader) here and it could be my rifle fix:D.
general3380 11-12-2008, 21:04 awesome! nice pictures! I guess I've never seen one so this is cool to see!
Gen the one i seen wasn't too far from the ol wiseman's place down by creal....kinda by the underground house after you pass the new skewl location..
