Gentlemen-

I have a 5th season Monroe county tag with 2 days left to hunt and was thinking about trying the Monroe county portion of the K river (probably Richland Creek area) and possibly a little south of there. First of all, was wondering if the K River is out of its banks and not huntable by boat? Second, have any of you hunted this area and is it any good?

Thanks in advance,

Joe Halbleib

The river is high, but the ground should be huntable.

I've hunted the sloughs across from Becks, and it is good. You can creep along early and listen for gobbles. There are birds all over that river.

Thanks for the info Bob. I'm gonna work evening shift these last two days of the season and try down at the river at least one of them. When you say "sloughs across from Beck's" are you talking on the west side of the river? I will probably put in at New Athens though Beck's would be closer. The guy at the office over at Baldwin Lake told me he wouldn't recommend parking at Beck's because they have been having vandalism problems there.

Yup on the West side. The one right across, and the next one up river.

Brad-

Thanks for the intel but, unfortunately, my tag is for Monroe county and that is in St. Claire county.

Bob- Thanks again for the info. I was getting the boat all ready to go this evening and I heard a bird gobblin' from the roost out here by the house. I'm gonna give him a shot in the morning. If I don't get him I'm river bound Thursday for sure.
