We stayed here Sat. night. Its about 20 min. west of Metropolis. You have the river about 200 yards away and several interesting places all within 25-30 min. away. This place ROCKS!!!! They have a super restaurant in the lodge and several rooms to rent. They also have a camp ground with electrical hook ups and two large cabins. We stayed in this cabin.

They have a fire pit right out in the front yard of the cabin. Heres our fire, the lights in the back ground is the power plant , cement plant , and of the chemical plant at Joppa...It was SWEET just sitting there with the scanner set on Maritime channels listening to and watching the barges by the fire..:cool:

She had a busted leg... Check out the third pic how its sticking out funny. You can notice it in the other pics also. You ever take your boat to the Ohio Jim? Its like a big lake when its like it is right now. Theres almost no noticeable current because its a series of lock and dams. When the waters high its a different story though. Cave-in- Rock is SWEET to see from the river. Its about 25 -35 miles up river from here( I think , not sure the exact distance). We seen it from the ferry that crosses the Ohio there.

I really want to set up for some hardcore cattin there . I think they have a bar in the lodge, and everything is in easy walking distance, the river , the cabins the lodge. Hy 37 is about 5 miles west of the lodge and the sign right when you get no rt 37 north says Marion is like 25 miles north of Grand Chain. Mermet Lake is only about 20 min away and the Cache River is about 15 min. away. I would be in for a all nighter for some tight lining. Dodees Birthday is the 5th of Nov. and her Mom usually watches the kids for us for a couple of nights. Also our anniversiry is on the 18 th on Nov and my Birthday is the 17th. So if its not to cool we might try to book a couple of days there. The cabin is the best deal because you can get a little louder there. But they do have rooms in ther lodge. I lived in Grand Chain when I went to Shawnee Comm. College so I know where thers some cool back roads around there that take you to some out of the way places on the river.

Yeah, it was really low and there was only water at the far end. They had most of the pumps running.

Thanks, I like to go there in the winter while the area is flooded. I have seen a few eagles there too.
