Best place I ever went crappie fishing was at a highway overpass "farm pond". It was on the east side of the highway on county line raid in New Baden Illinois. haven't been back there in awhile. Don't even know if it's still there. Anybody else know any crappie spots. Want to take my son with his crappie rig and have some fun! I'm in the Belleville Il area. DUDE!!! I think I fished that lake about 8 years ago. I remember catching a bunch of small bass outta there. I also used to fish the lakes that are now part of Mid America Airport, right off 64. There were some nice fish in there. Last time I was there was shortly after the AP was built, they threw me out.:mad:

Peabody has some good crappie, and Baldwin does too. I'm not much of a crappie fisherman. I didn't grow up around em. Scott lake has some too. We used to do ok out there in early Spring and Winter.

If you want to catcht the crappie go out to baldwin int the dead of winter by the hot water. Use minnows. On the right day you can crank in a messfull of slab crappie. I go to a little lake in lenznburg but you have to be a resident to fish it.

man i wish i could find some good crappie fishing to. i live on scott afb and i go to scott lake all the time and im telling you right now, if there's crappie in there they have got lock jaw. did hear though that outdoor rec put some chemicals in both bonds last summer to kill off the grass but ended up killing a lot of the fish. don't know whether it's true tho.

I heard they were supposed to be biting good at Carlyle last weekend, but we only caught some small ones in the spillway and my wife caught one that was 10 inches on the lake itself. Most people we talked to weren't catching many crappie either.

Want to catch some crappie head up to Big Muddy River. They are biting on minow. I'll be heading that way on Monday if the rain stays away...
