I just wondered who is reading what. Flatlander and I were discussing what we were members of, and what not, and which is worth it anymore. I used to get all the mags and stuff, but they become pretty redundant after reading them since I was 10 or so. Now I only get American Angler for fishing. I really enjoy Gray's Sporting Journal. More the essence of the experience, rather than "how to" articles.

I need to re-new my Outdoor Illinois though. I like that mag.

I'm also a member of TU and DU. My Retriever's Unlimited has lapsed.

I just don't have the funds to join it all. DU,TU, Quail U, RMEF, NWTF, etc. there are just too many. I think I'll join IL bowhunters though.

Another good outdoor book about Southern IL is the Waterman Hill Travelers Companion. A sort of regional almanac. Check it out if you haven't read it.

I'm open for any good suggestions as for reading material...:D

I also like reading Illinois Game & Fish and Outdoor Illinois.
I've never heard of Waterman Hill Travelers Companion.
I'll have to check it out.

http://www.naturealmanac.com/

Got all the normal sunrise sunset times, best fishing times (solunar), when to plant what, nature fact of the day, regional articles about interseting and weird stuff from the region. Past and present. Cougar sitings w/ map, odd lights that float around the SIL woods, historical articles about the area. Just neat stuff, different every year. Even has nice artwork.

A great read to keep in the "office" as you can refer it daily.:D

Well worth the price.

Ok, I have seen that a few times the grocery store here carries them.
