Well, this past weekend, I did some investigative work to check out a rumor in our local tavern regarding one of my friends who I had been missing seeing on my trips down for the past month. This fella is a straight shooter and a very caring type of guy. I had heard he had lost 2 horses w/in the past 2 -3 weeks. I found him and he related that abt 3 weeks ago he went out to feed and found one of his walkers dead behind the barn. He was pretty upset as he had been negotiating the sale of the horse for $5500 the next week. Called the vet and the vet said it appeared that the horse may have been run to death. The vet also found two puncture marks on both sides of the horse's neck. Approx one week later, my friend went back out to feed and found one of his pony's laid out back along one of the fence lines. It's entire back quarter on both sides had been stripped of meat and it was still alive. He ended up having to shoot it as it was obviously beyond saving. The vet came back out and found puncture marks on the neck of this one as well. My pal took camera pics that he showed me and that poor horse looked like it's azz end had been fileted. You have to know this guy and I tell ya that he was pretty upset about the whole thing or I would have asked him if I could have the pics to post here. He did call DNR who he said confirmed that it was large cat kill and they gave him live traps to put out. That kind of threw me as I would be surprised if DNR had large cat traps available. When I asked him about it, he said they were actually feral hog traps which is all they had. Once my buddy's had some time to get over this, I'll hit him up for the pics. Ya'all know me and I think I can do a pretty good job of telling when someone is blowing smoke up you know where and I don't think he is. The fact that he is a friend just solidifies it. The location: Union County between Ware and Jonesboro.

Deno and another farmer say they've seen one, both described the same place to a person and they had the same description. The guy they told it to his son told him about it and the dad sais "boy you were drunk and seeing things."

Something tells me I really wouldn't want to be around a cougar in a live trap, I would think it may be a bit disgruntled.
