My dad emailed me this a while back. The big fish is a 54 inch, 44 lb. Northern Pike. The smaller is a 10 pound Northern Pike. It was netted at the Rainy River on the Minnesota-Ontario border. Here's another pic:

Love the picture, made me remeber this event in my life... And it is a Pike for sure.
When I was younger my dad used to take us to Canada each year to go fishing. The last year we went we fished Gods Lake. My cousin had the same incident as the picture. He had a smaller 5 - 8lb fish hooked nad coming in and right next to the boat a monster 45 + pounder hit it and took the fish the lure and about 5 feet of line with it without a fight. It even freaked out the guide. That will always be a great story to tell my friends and kids.
