Hey, fishermen!

I'm new to So Illinois. My wife bought me a float tube, and I would love to get out and give it a try! First of all, I have NO IDEA how to use the thing, and second, I really don't know where to go around here where I can use it, AND catch some decent fish. Would anyone want to bring your tube (if you use them out here), and join me for an afternoon of fishing (and float tube training??) I might even buy lunch! You can e-mail me at DLinnell58@hotmail.com, or give me a call at (949) 922-7651. Thanks!

I go float tubing all the time by myself... just find a small lake or pond and give it try ... you will learn fast... most small towns have a city lake... thats a great place to try.. pyramid state park is good.... make sure you go to a lake without a boat ramp.... places where the big boys cant get too.... and if your ever down this way ill be more than happy to go.... pinkneyville city lake is also a great place.... a little big though....

I just KNEW someone would stop by that is getting ready for some fun fall fishing. Thank you for making my day!!! :D

Doggone it, I wish I was closer to you. I'm currently on the mend from a broke ankle ,but fish from a Fish Cat#4 a lot.
I basicly chase larger gills when I can, but you will find that you are onto a neat method for staying on fish.
Do you have waders? Not absolutely necessary in warm weather, but without them don't enter the water through large weed mats. There is something in them that bears a strong resemblance to chiggers. (groan)
I'll be sending an email with more info. ole Mike

Welcome DLinnell. I saw a guy using a tube a few years ago in one of the lakes at Peabody River King (aka Pit #3 just east of New Athens). I believe it was Eagle Lake. It's the one with muskies. Frankly I wouldn't dangle my feet in any water with any fish that might consider me part of its diet, but that's just me.

Mike, I'm hungry for some slabs of bluegill too. Every time I go fishing the bluegill rod goes too. I don't need to tell you the thrill of hooking into a big gill with an ultralight. My wife almost got pulled in off the boat by an 8" one 3 years ago. Had to grab her to keep her from going for a swim!
