So after my last thread (best coyote caliber) I THINK I have decided on .223 and am now looking into AR's. I'm still about 6 months away from buying one but wanted to get some opinions on the best AR for THE MONEY. I have been looking into Rock River Arms. I'm not totally against the idea of building my own either but will be the first to tell you I will have to research BIG time before I do that because I have virtually no experience with AR's. Let me hear your input! thanks!

I agree with Fun get a 22" or 24" upper both DPMS and Bushmaster make Varmiter versions that offer these barrel lengths both bull and fluted. Also Remington is now offering AR platforms no need to be worried about them being new the AR game Remington is owned by the same congloeration as DPMS and Bushmaster. DPMS and Bushmaster both make a nice AR thier triggers need honing or replaced. The Remingtons are only $75 to $100 more and they come with a camo finish instead of black.
Rock River is the finest AR IMO and their match trigger is a must! Check out legal transfer in NY for the best prices www.ar15sales.com.

IMO is In my Opinion, I have an olympic with a 22 inch bull barell. make sure you get the longer barell it is very important. Rock River is a great gun. When you get your rifle try several different loads, but once you pick a load keep with that load. I have noticed a lot of difference in flight, drop, and drift in the different loads.

If you do go with one of those building kits I have a CD on putting it together from scratch.
I have an Olympic as well, it has a 16" bull barrel (the price was too good to say "darn it's only got a 16" barrel"). Jury is still out on how well it shoots but it is sighted in at least.

Actually someone compared them and the R-15 VTR is basically a Bushmaster with some proprietary mods and that nice camo finish.
