hey how much poundage on the bow can you use to go i have a bow set to 20 pounds maybe 25 i was just wondering if you could shoot fish with that

i isue a 60# pound bow and it works awsome. i would try it and it and not shoot to far with it

im not to good with a bow anyway i should just use a spear it would prolly work better

I'd say you'd want at least 30#, but it might work. It's just that your slinging some heavy arrows.

i dont want to buy a seperate bow for this i dont have a bow that reaches a high pundage # i just have this thing from when i was a kid can you take a reel off of the bow that you use for deer hunting?

If you mean getting a new hunting bow, you can take off the reel real easy.:D

Its illegal to use a bow under 40 pounds for deer.

you know it man i have to dress up as a female deer and let him get really close then BAM i shoot im about 7 times haha :D im just playin i have to shoot him 8 times no my dad got me one along time ago it was my first and only bow and only bow i havnt got rid of it yet so reduce reuse recycle haha :D

Most bowfishers will use something in the 40# to 50# for shooting fish in Illinois. Deep shots in clear water require heavier bows. Shooting heavier bows than the 40# to 50# range just drives the arrow up to the nocks in the mud or into stumps when you miss. Shooting a heavy bow all night or day at a couple hunred fish will also wear you out. I have rigged up some bows for 9and 10 year old shooters in the 25# range. Hard to penatrate gar but can stick some carp with a good sharp point at close range with a 25# bow.
