The dove population in my backyard has increased significantly this morning...Wonder why??? :)

They have significantly slowed down here. As soon as I finish my fried taterz I'm going back out. I think the heats getting to them..:eek:

We whacked 7 this am... I got 4 and Ad got 3, I puffed 2 more that kept goin:confused:

The heat really slowed em up, and I don't like being out in it anyway.

May try again this evening. We heard lots o shootin around too, but it all slowed to a halt about 9ish

We shot 94 in mascoutah between 7 guys. 5 limits and 2 others still had a good shoot.

I am going tomorrow at Ramsey Lake. I hope the weather doesn't drive too many out of town. From what I have heard the public areas have not done well this year.

Fun, tell me you didn't run afoul of a polecat, please! I often smell those at night as I'm leaving work. One time when the A/C was out we even had the "pleasant aroma waft through the building" while I was at work.

Sadly I did. I hated to kill the dang thing but I have to keep the best interest of the family at the fore front. They carry rabies and dig holes under everything. I think they could even be molesting my chickens. Anyway I really hate to kill one of Gods creatures but you got to do what ya got to do. I had to blast one a few months back and I think theres probably more.:(

But....did it get you too? :eek: :(

I found one in the hen house a few decades back and ran up to the house. My uncle came back out with me carrying a flashlight. We saw the stinker waddle out the chicken door as we came in so I closed it for the night. That's the last we ever saw of it. Guess it didn't want to be disturbed during his late night snacks.

I thought narrow lanes would be better because they would give the dove a sence of security. Well it didn't work. So today I widened them. I hope the fresh cut smell will draw them in.

I used to sing it to my daughter, and still can't resist when one lets loose. We had one let lose at work back in the spring when the temperature was high and the A/C wasn't on yet so it was too hot to close the doors. Loverly.

He's shaved and gotten his haircut since the 70's when he made that song popular.

Fun, what you need there are some peach trees. I almost got fragged by a dove while picking peaches at Eckert's this summer. It didn't like me reaching right under its nest for that ripe peach.

Thats funny. Those people where a little to cautious. Really it takes a lot to get a skunk top spray ya. I have walked up on them several times and they have threatened me by turning their buttz my way and raising their tails. But I have never been sprayed. They should have just walked up and tossed the blanket over it.

I remember when I was younger, stayed at either Mauntauk or Bennet Springs, can't remember which..... I went to the privy to do the duty one morning and seen two skunks go past the the vents near the floor. I sat in there quietly till my mom came over and got me out...LOL

I don't know if it was cause I was so small at the time or what, but those things were the bigest skunks I have ever seen. I remember mom telling me everyone in our area was worried about the kid stuck in the privy being circled by the skunks...LOL Then she reallized it was me....:D
