The Billy Davis 2nd annual Memorial Tournament At Rend Lake April 21-22 put on by the Illinois Bowfishers was a great event. If you like to Bowfish in tournaments you really missed a great one. Weather was perfect and everyone found fish. Lots of fish. 10 teams showed up for the event. 25 people shot in the tourament from one to three shooters on the boat. DId I mention a lot of fish where shot. The total take for the torunament was 1261fish!!!!!!
1st place ....341 fish
2nd............307
3rd............150
If you have never tried Bowfishing it is great way to keep in practice for Deer season. It might even make you a better Shooter.

The break down on fish was
747 gar
478 carp
35 buffalo
1 bowfin
Luc24.... You shoot roughly 30 fish per hour. This was a 12 hour tournament and the 1st to 3rd place had three shooters on each boat. Fish where everywhere. Some of the boats came back and dumped fished in the middle of the night so as not to overload their boats. I wonder what kind of fish totals we would have had if we had a 24 hour tournament???
Bowtechman..... Most all of the fish where taken to a corn field where they where put to rest, plowed under. A few of the guys stayed afterwords and cleaned some of the bigger gar. They really are good to eat. And a few of them where brought home and will be dried out and the scales removed to make jewelery.
Sorry you guys couldn't make the shoot. Check out the link to the Illinois Bowfishers web site for pics of the event.
