Anyone Going To Cavefest South Of Murphysboro This Weekend 420 Or Have Been To Cavefest????

Just talked with my bro and he said that a couple thousand people turned out this weekend......I just heard that they even rent out the caves and waterfalls for receptions and reunions.....Looks like a nice place to get some cool pics!!!!

i heard that it was 25 bucks to get into the cave. we were thinking about going but didnt want to pay it. it sounds like a pretty sweet thing to do though

It is 25 at the gate or 17 if you buy in advance. Caveman Bob is the owner. He also does tours for like 5 an adult durning the day. I don't know about when cavefest is going on. There are some bands out there...and some vendors over there. And you can also camp out there..

OH REALLY???? I never been personally but heard it was pretty nice....I seen alot of pics on the cave and it looks kewl.......they got lights on top and pictures hung on the wall in some pics.......Have you been Fun??

YES, they still call it saltpeter cave......Cave man bob and his wife run it. He kinda looks like Santa Claus! lol....

The guy who ran it was like a hermit and he would probably be in his 90's now. He was no hippy-wanna-be.

The old guy who owned it died I think about 5-6 years ago, I think he was i in his early 80's. I don't know that I would have called him a hermit but he was rather attached to Salt Peter Cave. He used to have coffee every morning with my dad and a bunch of other guys at Tippy's restaraunt in Murphysboro. He was kind of funny too!!

We've been to a few ummm events there...I have to agree with gus...I think would have been much better before it was homogonized...however..it's a hella party if that's what you're looking for LOL Breathe deep! LOL

I have heard rumor that the one they had a few weeks ago will be the last.Personaly I'm glad! Nothing but a bunch of amatures there that call the freakin ambulance every 5 minutes.I muself was there 10 times between Friday night and Sunday morning and that was just between 7am and 7 pm not counting the night shift.And the last one the sheriffs department was there ALOT and they were not happy.

You would think with the size of the events that they have, they would contract with an ambulance to be on site....no first aid tent? No EMS on Site?? That's dumb...running after all the kids - that would be a huge pain in the ass...(I used to work EMS) I always hated those types of calls...
Seems like (from what I read in the paper) the issue was that security was confiscating weapons and drugs, but didn't turn them over nor did they turn the people over to the sherriff's department.
The big biker gaterings that we go to...have a couple of deputies at the gate...if you try to smuggle in anything illegal and get caught...the promoters usually hand you right over to the law...
