Has anyone ever been to this lake to fish? I seen some pics and if it was the right lake does it really have those crazy lookin trees in the water?? Looks like a pretty cool place to fish.

luc im telling you right now man i've went out there about 3 times last year and didn't do nothing! shoot it's hard enough trying to fight off the snakes, man they'll come straight at you with no hesitation.

OMG...bluegill are huge there or they used to be......We camped there a couple times but it is just a corn field and a little spot to pull the trailer in.. No shower houses, playground, resorts nothing! Just porta pottys unless they changed...It has been like 10 years since I camped there......but the snakes where unreal! And they where huge! Or at least a couple I seen!

I looked at a satelite view of HS lake. It didn't show any ramps. Can you put a boat on it? The one in Alexander Co.

There area number of ramps on Horseshoe. I think the closes is the one just south of Olive Branch via the main entrance. My friends fish it pretty consistently for crappie and bluegill and typically do very well.

Yessir, it is. Duck hunting is huge down there now.

The regulations say bowfishing is allowed there.
Do you see many big carp, gar or Buffalo fish?

I haven't been on it but I will ask my friends. One of the guys that lives close and posts on waterfowler.com says they've been eatin' up the crappie down there. I'll check and get back w/ ya but it may be a bit as I won't be back down yonder for a couple of weeks.

Just wanted to make sure i was thinkin right....never really did to good duck unting.. and ive never tried to fish as i live a good way away

Thanks Dave. We're going down to the BAA World Championship The end of July and I would like to check HSL out while we're in the area.

Let me know when yer headed down. Our duck club clubhouse is about 20 mins north of HS and I could meet you guys for a few frosty lager treats.
