Ended up with alittle over 100 lbs I think, but I am sworn to secrecy and I am not at liberty to say where we were catching these. But my introduction to this sport I learned it gets better after dark!
Actually, we had over 150 lbs. After six hours of boiling and peeling, had 15 lbs. of meat. Boy, was that crawfish etoufee good on Sunday.
Birdhunter1 07-28-2008, 21:40 Wish I coulda been there for the feedin!
I told my brother in law about it and he wants me to go get some of them to do a cookin in a few weeks, guess we'll get to go again in two weeks!
Looks like a fun time in the swamp!! Yee-haw!
Birdhunter1 07-28-2008, 21:44 Not a swamp, just a ditch.
Bam I actually mentioned you while we were doing this, I told Deno this looks like something the Bam fam would be doing.... in shorts and flip flops!
Oh.......ROFL.
Yea the bam fams been alot of places but I never caught them and ate them.....We have caught them before and let em go.......Im mad I wasn't invited to the SILO SWAMP OUT! Thanks MENO!!
Birdhunter1 07-28-2008, 21:50 Like I said it was a top secret location, they were gonna blindfold me but I was the driver!

If you were blindfolded and the driver this would belong in the redneck thread! :D I could hear you say " Hey watch this ya'll!" lol
Mini Lobsters....MMMMGOOD
Milky would really look good after an hour in that mud ROFL
Birdhunter1 07-28-2008, 22:00 Yeah he would!
Of course he could take a quick bath in the water and wash off before heading home!
FunGusAmonGus 07-28-2008, 22:09 Wutz wit da tongz???:eek::D:rolleyes::D:D:D:D
Birdhunter1 07-28-2008, 22:12 They can't pinch ya if you use da tongs!
Plus it is easier to grab them when they go in their hole or if they are under water.

Like Chocolate Milk huh? lol
lifestudent55 07-28-2008, 23:41 I was about to ask that too Fun. We always just used out hands. You get real tough skin on your fingers so they can't pinch you too bad.
FunGusAmonGus 07-28-2008, 23:50 Our kids have no problem picking up even the grandaddys with their hands.. Even Brianna....lol
gretchensteele 07-29-2008, 07:08 I'm cryin too cause I wasn't invited to the swamp out... and top secret..heck you guys know I do good to remember my name most days...so you really don't have to worry about me even remembering a top secret location LOL
Looks like you guys had a great time! Deno I sure miss you! I've been driving Critter crazy whining around around that I want to run down to see you before he goes back to work next week...LOL Never ever used tongs.. hmmm may have to try that on my next crawdad catching adventure...
I'm lucky.. with no feeling in my hands..I can pretty much just use my fingers for bait LOL
lifestudent55 07-29-2008, 07:13 So you guys commemorated the Great Upheaval with etouffee, but didn't invite anyone else from SILO?

Congratulations on that massive crawfish catch! :p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p!!!!
Even with a large Seine that borders on miraculous and if you just walked that ditch picking them up with tongs which it appears you did by the looks of your photograph it is still even more utterly fantastic.
I figured awhile back that the flood waters would drive a multitude of crayfish into such shallow waterways and now you have offered proof that my theory was correct. :D
I'm planning a Crawfish raiding party for your area even now as I write this! I have 4 traps that will hold almost 20 pounds of crawdads each. And I will also utilize (Super Tongs) to gain further advantage.
You don't have to tell me where they are, I can find them easy enough using topo-maps and google earth. ;)
Should we cross paths I will offer you ice cold brew. :)
Birdhunter1 07-29-2008, 11:38 Keep in mind there were 4 adults and 3 kids... all of them were expert crawdad catchers too, I was the rookie
Did you count yourself as an adult or a kid? :D
Better not let the boys from down south hear you call them crawdads!LOL I about got skined alive down there when i said crawdad. To them its crawfish.
