Was over in Carlyle this evening to look for deer. Didn't see many so I went down to the dam area to see if anyone was doing anygood. Saw some people pulling in some nice fish, one guy pulled in a heck of a spoonbill.

Was wondering if anyone here has been over there fishing?

I been over to the kask below the spillway a couple of times to try for panfish, never catfishing or anything else though.

I've never seen any spoonbills come out of the spillway, but we've caught quite a few whites, crappies, channels, and drum from there. We've been seing a few large bigheads come out of there this year too.

Ron, they catch alot of gar over there below the spillway, never heard of any spoons caught. There was a lot of success earlier on the white bass and lots of rough fish.
I am getting ready to go on the lake in search of the elusive white bass, need to get over early or get run over by a drunken jet skier....

ISP - I see you and I share the same thoughts regarding the folks on their "personal Watercraft" ....love to see some of them get a DUI , or whatever it's called when you are on the water..

Yep, last night there on the discharge side of carlyle dam. Wouldn't have believed it myself except I seen the bill on the fish. Then one guy said theres more out there, looked across the water and you could see bills stickin up in the air every so often.

The place kinda reminded me of the opening day of trout season, people all over along the bank, almost shoulder to shoulder........

That's how it is almost every weekend during the summer, and especially holiday weekends.

Sweet! We haven't been out on Carlyle since last year. Heck, the boat's only been wet on the underneath side once this year, and that was at Rend. Last year every time we went to the lake we had 1-2 foot swells. Made it a bit rough for concentrating on fishing.

Yeah life I've seen em all down there in the past. Never had the gumption to go down there though. Last night was the first time for me during the evening. May have to head over there again some evening after supper, seemed kinda nice after the sun went down and it cooled off a bit.

Duke, thems some nice look'n fish. One guy I talked to said that the guys in boats tied to the cable out on the river were fishin for them sauger.

And after my parents giving me some spoonbill from KY lake, I think some more of it might be kinda nice......lol

I think they catch more Walleye in the spillway and Sauger on the lake.

Forgot the camera but did okay on the lake today, cleaned 35 whites and a sauger about 18 inches long. Caught most of them at the southend of the lake, mostly in 8-9 feet of water. Got on the lake around 6AM and left around noon. Had them surfacing for a little while, they are real aggresive when that happens. Hope to get back over on Tuesday when most of the jet skiers are working........................................... ........................ NOT..............................
:D;)

What's the distance they're supposed to keep away from anchored boats? Too many of the people who get on them want to ride like they see in the commercials. It's fun to ride like that...until they end up ramming another boat and someone getting killed. Too many of them (like about 90%) don't care that they're being a nuisance, and in creating a hazard, for other boaters. I saw one get chewed out at Carlyle because a boater followed the PWC back to the beach where he parked it. I seriously doubt the fool listened to the words of warning though. If he were smart enough to learn from them, he'd have been smart enough to know not to be a sphincterbrain to begin with.
