View Full Version : Some shroomies
gretchensteele 07-14-2008, 07:07 okay maybe shrooms aren't exactly "scenic" but from my vantage point these days they are...LOL
I'm trying to walk out to the chip piles and fence row once a day... self imposed physical therapy I guess you could call it. Yesterday the chip [iles has some good numbers of shrooms to shoot YAY!!
First for Fungus... I put my shoe there for size comparision..cause I knew he'd want to know LOL

Great shots G.
We had some toadstools in the yard, but the wife mowed before I got out there to take any pics....but I'm not gonna complain.....:)
The only one I've gotten a pic of so far this summer is, of one in front of the Menard House.

G are you able to get on the ground again? Fantastic shots.
gretchensteele 07-14-2008, 08:17 I'm using the cane some and mostly the walker...I used the 70-300 on these.. it's been a real godsend the last few days. Can't handle the 400 yet.. just still not enough strength...and it doesn't take long even with the 300 to get really shaky.. but it's sure an improvement over a the few weeks! My right eye is still out of whack so I've been shooting with the left...one adapts :)
Cool....I mowed the neighbors yard yest and seen several......I just didn't have the time to stop the mower and start shooting every 2 lanes....lol
Great Pictures Gretchen! :)

Hey, could you mow ours while you're at it? JK. I just mowed ours yesterday. With those storms it got real long real fast. A lot different from last year's drought.
Gretchen, those are some good shroom shots. Glad to see you're able to get out a bit, and hope it won't be too long till you're back up to running around the hills again.
cruisegallouise2@aol.com 07-14-2008, 17:24 Hi Gretchen,
I have not been here on the SIL for a little while, we are getting ready to move. Your pictures reminded me of some mushrooms we saw in Pine Grove State park one night, while camping. Bob and Ad were little guys then, and it was so cool to peek outside the tent and see mushrooms that were glowing in the dark. I do not know what kind they were, but they sure were pretty. Does anyone know what kind we would have seen?
Thanks,
Louise
Cool Louise ....are you moving to silo or just moving in PA?
I never seen any of those myself but I have read about them They do really glow in the dark....It's a chemical reaction, kinda like the lightning bugs..But why a mushroom would need to glow in the dark is beyond me.... .....also Jack o lantern mushrooms glow too but they look different than those and are orange.....:D
You should know that one. You're the one who taught us all that cool stuff. They were Jack O Lanterns.... I think. Anybody else know of some glow in the dark mushrooms?
cruisegallouise2@aol.com 07-14-2008, 17:45 Hi Bam and Ad,
We are moving just 14 miles away from our wonderful mountain in the PA. Game Lands, to a "development". It is time to downsize after 11 wonderful years here. We are building a little cottage, and got rid of things we no longer need. Now I will have to go camping again, for we will be far from the woods! Too bad we sold Ad's camper!
Ad, I really can't remember the kind of mushrooms they were, that was a long time ago, I think it was the same camping trip where you hunkered down to look in the eyes of a SNAKE to see if it was a poisonous one. I thought I would just die from fright!
lifestudent55 07-14-2008, 18:13 She was just testing ya Adam. (That's what I always tell our kids anyways.)
gretchensteele 07-14-2008, 18:38 yep..they would have to be Jack o Lanterns... Louise..I keep threatening to to move/downsize... it's amazing how at one point this house didn't seem big enough..and now there's way too much! And just how did I accumulate all this stuff???
and don't feel bad about not remembering... heck I'm happy somedays if I know what my name is and what day it is!!!
Gretchen isn't there another kind too though........
gretchensteele 07-14-2008, 18:55 Panellus do.. but they are really really faint.. and it's not as obvious as the jack o lantern ones...

my guess is they probably were jack o lanterns..
