Bob
I hope its ok I post this here.
If not remove it.

In a couple of weeks several volunteers, the IDNR, the IBS and 12 terminally ill kids / young adults will gather in southern Illinois for a "Dream Hunt". This hunt is a request by these less fortunate kids with little time left to enjoy the outdoors, the oppurtunities we take for granted may likely never been possible for many of these kids with our help we can at least brighten one weekend up. We walk to our stands, we own deer ground, we buy expensive bows, we camp out, we do all kinds of fun things every hunting season, and for most of us we have for many years and hopefully will for many more. BUT these kids don't have that to look forward to or to reflect back on they have a weekend in october, that quite possibly could be all of the great outdoors they get!

Here's the problem, most are in wheel chairs, their families maxed out with medical and other special need expenses and this kids need our help. For this to happen we need to raise $3,000.00 now surely we can pitch in and make this happen! I am asking everyone to set down and right a check to: U.S.S.A C/O of Jim McFarlane, 2528 Ellen Ave., Rockfort, IL 61101 for $25.00 dollars, less than a cartoon of cigerettes, less than a deer tag. less than just a couple of arrows. Jim McFarland might just be the nicest man in the world, certainly he has adopted this program and has nearly single handedly with a few volunteers pulled this off the past couple of years and we need to help him out. Anyway like I said, it's not that much money and what a great cause maybe we can have enough to feed the kids and the volunteers!!! Kind of a challenge to you all..... I have attached Jim's e-mail 'jem6@prodigy.net ' if you have any questions concerning the hunt.

(Below is a note I recieved from Jim that sparked this e-mail. I e-mailed him back and got some figures from him on what they needed. Looking at 20+ motel rooms for 3 days, meals, other misc. expenses. Whats bad is the part about three alternates, this shouldn't be we need to accomidate all these kids but we need your help!)

I just wanted to keep you guys up to date on what is going on with the Illinois Dream Hunt. It has been a hectic last few weeks with bunches of people bouncing in and out of the hunters and volunteers positions. This has been the case with kids in past years but usually we have a solid list of volunteers. In this year’s case we have ten veteran volunteers of past Dream Hunts and then Lynn and a gentleman who is a hunter safety instructor is joining us this year for the first time.

Please keep this list of our kids’ names among our board and close friends. Basically if you want to discuss this with others for fund raising and such we can refer to our kids as a group of 12 from 11 different states with 6 of them being in wheelchairs or limited mobility. Our kids range in age from 9 to one adult of 26 years old. One 5 year old boy from Kentucky wants to go out with an 11 year old girl from Wisconsin who wants to shoot a deer for him. Both of these kids share a common brain cancer disease and communicate hundreds of miles away and try to share common things that keep them going.

Three of our Directors are taking kids out with Alex and Dan returning and Lynn taking out an 11 year old boy from Mississippi with leukemia. We have three kids sitting in the wings as alternatives this year in case any our guys or gals are medically unable to make the hunt. In years past Brigid gets the alternates out in single hunts some time after the Dream Hunt.

I can’t thank the volunteers enough for dedicating their time and resources to help these kids out on this hunt. If you guys would like to help, fund raising for the kids travel expense and lodging is always needed. Thanks also goes out to those of you that considered bringing out a kid this year and could not make a schedule work. Hopefully we will see you in a future Illinois Dream Hunt.

Went by Sahara Woods to see how things were going.
The kids killed two does and a basket 6ptr this morning I haven't heard about this afternoons hunt.
Looks like the rain should be stopping so maybe tomorrow and Sun morning will be even better for the hunters.
I talked to one of them that killed a doe, it was like a state record buck to him, smiling from ear to ear.

That's awesome. If you get any pics of those young uns, I'd like to see em here. That's what its really all about everyone. Giving, sharing, and making people happy. It'll all come around.
