Amazing how far behind the green up is just a few hundred miles North. huntrz 04-12-2007, 08:04 Between Champaign and Decatur I saw a sign that said "Origin of Kaskaskia River", so I guess it was where the river starts, but it was just a grassy ditch with no water in it. mdoc 04-12-2007, 08:33 I've been kayaking down the Sangamon River from Decatur to Petersburg(Lincoln's New Salem). Play boaters come from all over to do there tricks. The rapids are called Dead Carp Drop! DetectDave 04-13-2007, 21:14 I always wanted to get out to the Gallatin R especially after I found out that one of my ex-coworkers aunt owned a trout ranch on the Gallatin right across from Ted Turners place. Reportedly some awesome trout fishing there. I did the Upper and Lower Gauley and the New in WV and had blast, particularly since it was my 1st time WW raftin'.
