I got a four footer yesterday and caught some shad and crawdads. I think its a fine investment not only does it save money on buyin bait but also because it makes getting bait so convenient.;)

I just sling it out there and about every fifth time it works like it should...well kinda.. My bro-in-law showed me but I don't think anybody ever showed him.. I was wondering if the site says pole and line only is it illegal to use a throw net there? I used it on the river and in flooded areas. josh 06-30-2008, 23:17 http://www.texasgulfcoastfishing.com/castnets.htm hope this helps josh 06-30-2008, 23:27 I just picked up a 5 footer from wally world for like 26 bucks FunGusAmonGus 06-30-2008, 23:32 I just picked up a 5 footer from wally world for like 26 bucks The four footers just about wares me out after about 1/2 hour. I found out tonight you need to becareful not to use it in a place where theres a lot of snags. I had to wade out and untangle it off a stump and it still riped a little hole in it around the bottom near the weights. I also found the best way to toss it. Great link Josh Thanks! lifestudent55 06-30-2008, 23:56 Be sure to not use them in areas they're not allowed too. Below Rend lake "sport fishermen may not use a minnow seine, cast net, or shad scoop for bait collecting within 1,000 yards downstream of the Rend Lake dam and spillway." Below Carlyle Lake "sport fishermen may not use a minnow seine, cast net, or shad scoop for bait collecting between U.S. Route 50 and the Carlyle Lake dam and spillway."
