Having your dog pro trained is worth it, but is pretty expensive.

I know a guy who has lab training classes on Tues and Thurs nights in Freeburg. If you are committed and he will train you to train your dog. He knows his shtuff. I trained my Nes with him, and would do it again in a second. Much cheaper than shipping your dog off. There are guys on here that can vouch for what my dog can do.

I STRESS: If you are not committed don't do it.

PM me for more info.

I train dog professionally and the guy BOB is talking about in freeburg is my dad and he would be glad to help you out on those evenings. We have been doing this combined for over 30yrs,but like bob said you have to dedicate time every night or every other night to reinforcing what your dog has learned.I also do classes but I live 2 hrs away, but if you want my dads # me a call or get it from bob.If my dad can't help you out I'd be glad to help you with any questions over the phone and I'm down there in freeburg alot and we could get together at my club for some training. You can e-mail me --scott@downrivergamecalls.com for any phone #'s you may need.

Smokey make sure you are the one that feeds and water the dog. Make it a part of your life every day somone posted to me that 10 minutes a day is better than 2 hours a weekend.

w/o one of us seeing what your doing there is no way for us to tell you any more. Much easier to show...

Sounds like lots of good owners out there, some Pros I know... get w/ any of em to really know.

BTW HRC is great for training your dog, and competition if you want to get into that. LOTS of folks willing to help not just with advice, but throwing long multiple retrieves...:D

contact Deb West in waterloo, she is the president of retrievers unlimited. They usually have weekend training days every month and there's plenty of people there thats been training for many years that could help you with all of your questions.Best thing it's alot of good free advice!I've been involved with that club since it started in the mid 80's.

Hey, Scott, thanx.
Hey Smokey, what Bob, and Scott, and monroecoduckman are saying is all true.
As I posted in another thread, come on over on Sunday and check us out.
I love working with young folks and young dogs. Monroecoduckman meets with me weekly and his dog is coming along fine. She will have a title this fall.
Its fun, you meet great folks, have a LOT of fun, and you and your dog become a team. You are more than welcome to call me or PM me for more info.
FYI - ask Bob about the "Class of 2000." :)
