Headed down to Bison Bluff Farm last weekend in Cobden and went on the Buffalo tour (very cool experience by the way). This gal somehow managed to pick up some extra baggage

There was a time Jdawg would have talked me into just that thing Bigfoot, but I think working in the health care field he got soft and doesn't want to see me get injured!
I've been there, it is a cool place. Most people don't realize how much power is under the hide of those Buffalo. I might walk up and take that branch off but I wouldn't jump on his back unless there was a real good reason to do so. :D
I LOVE buffalo meat!!!!!!!!!!!

Boy, 12, injured by Yellowstone bison

From staff reports
June 28, 2008
A 12-year-old Pennsylvania boy was flipped in the air by a bison near the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone on Friday.
A mature bull bison, apparently annoyed at the close proximity of the boy, tossed him approximately 10 feet in the air.
Witnesses said the boy was posing for pictures with members of his family within one to two feet of the animal despite repeated warnings from other visitors to move further away.
The incident occurred just off the trail adjacent to the Uncle Tom’s Trail parking lot along the South Rim Drive of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.
The bull’s horns did not puncture the boy. The only outward injuries he suffered were abrasions possibly received from hitting the ground after the fall.
Because the boy complained of abdominal pain, he was transported by ambulance to the Lake Clinic and then flown to the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
The name and hometown of the injured juvenile were not immediately released. His current condition is not available.
Visitors are urged to be very cautious around the park’s wildlife. Extremely serious injuries or death can result from approaching wild animals too closely, even if they appear docile.
Park regulations require that a minimum distance of 100 yards be maintained from bears and wolves, and 25 yards from all other animals.
The accident was the first such incident this year in Yellowstone.
The Yellowstone bison population is down this year from about 4,700 animals in 2007 to an estimated 2,100 to 2,300 today.
The drop is due to management actions, hunting and a harsh winter that led to above-average mortality.
Officials slaughtered about 1,700 bison that left the park due t
That is what we call a TOURON.
There is NO excuse for idiocy... They give one of these to EVERYONE ENTERING YP!

It's definately a good photo op. I've been down to the Bison Farm several times for family reunions (The owner, Clifton, is my wifes second cousin). I don't know how many acres the farm includes, but I do know I've only seen a fraction of it. It's very beautiful country (rolling hils, scenic views, etc).
I believe they originally had no intention of starting any sort of tourist operation. They just wanted to raise the Buffalo and sell the meat (which they still do quite successfully). More and more people started coming out wanting to see the Buffalo, so they decided to buy a big tram that they could pull behind a big tractor. The tour used to be free, but with the price of diesel, they now charge $5 per person I believe. I think it is still worth it, especially since there is really nothing else like it in Southern Illinois. Here are a few other pics from the tour:
