View Full Version : Road Closure due to H2o....
FunGusAmonGus 06-16-2008, 08:36 The river road from Chester to Fort Kaskaskia is closed due to high water just south of Menard Home. I would guess its probably closed at Rily Lake between Ellis Grove and Fort Gage. You can still get into the park via Shawnee Town Trail Rd.
gretchensteele 06-16-2008, 09:19 Yep and there's gonna be more road closed signs popping up all over! ...Thanks for keeping us updated..you know I'll be out roaming around every day trying to document this disaster..so glad you are keeping us update and saving me lots of turning around and back tracking!
Thanks Fun!
If you think theyll be more we can try to keep track of them maybe and post em all in the same spot...or I can make this a sticky so everyone is informed....:D
gretchensteele 06-16-2008, 09:32 Bam That's a super idea!!! And I sure appreciate you volunteering to do the sticky etc.
Bam gets the good idea gold star this AM ! :)
There's no doubt in my mind there are going to be more..especially some of the county roads that won't be as well publcized as the state closures.
FunGusAmonGus 06-16-2008, 09:35 I figured you could use this info G. We went down to the "bumpy hills" thats what the kids call them, at the old fort Sat. and the water was only 3-4 inched over the road there by the wardens house but they had the signs up. At the other end the signs where up at Fern Gully. It would sure suck to drive all the way down there and then have to turn around. I wonder if Stringtown Rd. flooded yet?
FunGusAmonGus 06-16-2008, 09:46 My Bro-in_laws girlfriends family lives in Rocher and they expect it to flood so the flood gates will probably be shut and if anybodys planning to make a trip to Fort de Chartres , it might be a good ideal to call first.
gretchensteele 06-16-2008, 11:00 i was wondering about stringtown too... I think if I can get out of the docs at reasonable time today. I'm headed down so I'll have a report about what I encounter this evening..and also by then Critter will have been out and about wandering too.. Course..you know me..I'll drive right up to closed sign and the wander right on past it on foot LOL
gretchensteele 06-16-2008, 19:01 Sorry I have nothing to report.. I didn't make it out today.. I was held hostage at the doctors office way too long... and was just not in the mood after I left.. maybe tomorrow ! :)

That sites list is incomplete...
FunGusAmonGus 06-18-2008, 16:49 Add Stringtown Rd. to the list. I didn't go back there to Plum Creek but they had the sign up where Stringtown Rd. and Shuline Rd. intersect by the fish farm.
FunGusAmonGus 06-22-2008, 21:42 Mill Rd in Randolph Co. that leads to the back side of Turkey Bluff. Also Rt 3 is closed south of Rockwood..
Gosh you guys got all kinds of closed roads..
gretchensteele 06-23-2008, 04:59 Critter said last night.. was at the bridge on Buttercreek at Kueker's road..... probably over by this am.....it'll be closed next...
lifestudent55 07-07-2008, 19:51 Rt 100 opened between Alton and Grafton today. http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/news/stories.nsf/commutingtraffic/story/12861685E05246908625747F0077D5D9?OpenDocument It's still closed between Rt 3 and Rt 16. That stretch is still under water.
