This cougar was hit on M-65, just north of Long Rapids near Alpena,
Michigan by a car. MDNR had to come and put him down. He charged at
the MDNR officer in the process. And you thought no cougars lived
in Michigan.

According to Snopes (http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/mountainlion2007.asp) this one was hit by a Ford F350 in Arizona. It's still over twice the size you'd expect for a cougar.

Who really knows where it was hit or what really killed it...lol

Looks like a taxidermist studio to me....

How does this web site "Snopes" confirm the facts????

Here's an interesting article: http://www.surfsantamonica.com/ssm_site/the_lookout/news/News-2004/Dec-2004/12_09_04_Mountain_Lions.htm

"Brakefield says the largest puma on record weighed more than 300 pounds. The cats can reach 8.5 feet in length, with a 28" tail. That, incidentally, is about their height at the shoulder. The biggest puma is not much smaller than a large jaguar and much bigger than an average leopard. But members of the great cats generally roar. They also have skeletal differences that separate them from pumas".

"According to 'Snopes', the cat above measured over 7 feet head to tail"

I'd like to introduce one of those to 1 (or 10) of my 30-30 caliber 125 grain Sierra's!

Distended???

The belly does appear to be ruptured inside. Deer look the same way when they get hit.

Well according to the ALL knowing "Snopes" the story and picture is true. The location of where it occurred is the question.
