1) Size and Creel (per state regs): A total of 3 bass (largemouth or smallmouth), at least 16 inches in length, per person.

2) Fishing must be by rod and reel only.

We had a blast at this last year so try to make it if you can.

We have decided on the Marina access in case anyone needs fuel or food and/or boat rental. More convenience there. Also, closer to a restaurant if we want to meet up after the tournament for food and drinks (we did this last year afterwards).

About the 1300 ending time, I'm thinking about 1100 in the morning we're gonna get bombarded by those (***********!) jetski's and other pleasure boaters.

Had a ski boat tonight that put out enough wake at about 1/2 speed to cause me to have to point bow first into the wake and it still came over the front once! The guy passed then came back even closer, but at least teh guy skiing was kinda impressive to watch, but didn't feel too bad when I saw him fall and get drug about 60' when his arm got tangled in the rope!

We can discuss quitting time at the ramp the morning of the tournament. I'm not set on 1300...I just threw that out there as I think that is what time we quit last year. Doesn't matter to me what time we quit. We'll discuss it and see what everyone wants to do.

Bam the tent camping area is in the cove where all the lillie pads are, it is all right along the main road around the park. If you miss it you're blind.

I went through a nice Class A campground last year over there....it wasn't all that private but it was kind of like Rend Lake north side or so....any ideas?

Sorry..can't help you out on the Class A ones..you could drive through there on your way to Deno's this evening and check it out ....I know that Lake Murphysboro has class A's I just don't ever pay any attention to those areas...
The primitive/tent sites are a little close for me....but there's usually not enough people there for it to really matter..and the setting is really nice..especially for night fishing.

on the 17th street idea..it seems a little pricey..there is the restraunt right there at the marina too. Especially if folks have boat trailers etc..might be easier than trying get them all parked up at 17th street..or maybe the boat house on top of the hill..although I haven't been in there in a long time so I can't really vouch for the place.

I'm easy though..I'll go wherever everyone is going to be LOL

It don't matter on 17th street...that's was just a popular hang out with some good BBQ that I thought off..they do have the extra parking lot in the back of them that boats would fit easly but it don't matter..Birds won't have his boat so it would only be 2 or 3 at the most....

I gave up about 8:30 because of the wind. I just don't like to fish when the wind blowing to hard.

Thanks everyone. I had a blast down there at Kinkaid fishing with Shooter. It was nice to see/meet everyone. I'd definately be in for a LOE tournament...especially after talking to Danny about the fishing there at lunch!

We can have one down here!!!.....You all would have to put in at the public ramp now cause they got our ramp on lock down with key and all so if someone needed to leave early and such that wouldn't work anyway......However,if a few needed to park their trucks or cars here that is fine to avoid the 5 dollar parking fee.....

Just a thought..might be easier for scheduling a monthly tournament if you guys stuck to a single date like always the first Saturday or some such as that..easier for people to plan ahead or put it on their calenders, instead of say the second saturday in June..the third sunday in July..and so on

Yea that's true.....I guess it won't matter for us though cause B usually always works 24 on the weekend and won't be able to fish em.......unless you all made one durning the week like some do....they have then on weds. sometimes down here.....

Here's a thought..... instead of calling it a monthly tournement... lets set up a league. Kind of like a bowling league. Back in Minnesota, I used to fish in a Multi Species league, we fished different lakes/rivers over the course of the summer. There were point values assigned to each species of fish with bonuses attached for size catagories. Where a team could really accumulate points was extra bonuses for catching multple species. We could tweak some things to more accomodate the varied schedules of people here. So for instance, we pick four different bodies of water to fish over the summer, we fish each two times between now and say the endof September. Each time we target a different species, but still have bonuses for multi specie catches...say we target largemouth bass at lake of Egypt, it would go something like this:

Bass from 12-14" 5pt
Bass from 14-16" 7pt
Bass 16-18" 10pt
Bass over 18" 15pt
10 pt bonus for a legal limit
bonus for largest fish
bonus for largest overall catch

Bluegills are 3pt under 8"
over, 5pt
10pt bonus for 10 fish over 8"

Channel cats 16 - 20" 5pt
20 - 25 7pt
25- 30 10pt
over 30" 15pt
10pt bonus for having 5 fishover 16"

so on and so forth for other species, but heres where you can rack up some points, and extra 2pts per fish for having 2 species, 5ptsfor 3 species, 10 for 4 or more species

Then add in bonus fish, like if we were to fish Kincaid, 50 pts to anyone who hooks lands (brings to boat long enough to photograph, with evidence of date, or a witness....I dont know, I think we are all honorable here) and releases a Muskie.

Teams could consist of however you would want to work it, we had two man teams in MN, but everyone could be consistant on being there, Schedules being what they are here, maybe we look at something like a bowling team where we can pick 5 man teams, with points accumulated by the team and individual. Just thinking for guys like me who want to fish tourny and this stuff but without a boat, that way if a guy from one team is in a boat without a partner, they could hook up with a person from another without a boat, and both can still fish for their team and themselves!

Points accumulate over the course of the summer, so you have a winning team each night and a grand champion at the end of the season.

OK I found the links to the Minnesota Multi Species league, this will help explain it a little better. Like I said we would have to tweak things a bit to make it a better fit here for us, but its a good place to start. These guys in this league where very serious about it, and didnt have much a problem with cheating or accussing some one else of it, and fights regularly broke out and almost came to blows a few times. So I would think we leave the big money out of it, keep it to ourselves so to speak, and we would eliminate the need for alot of their rules. Maybe to do this right, we should look at starting it next year in april or so, it would give us time to iron out how it would best suit SILO....I dont know. I just remember having a lot of fun in 2003 when I participated, and my fishing skills, particularly for Walleyes improved dramatically. And by the way, if you check out that site some, I know most of those guys in the pictures and where they caught those fish.....I wouldnt have a problem sharing that info with anyone wanting to go up sometime and fish the Duluth area!
