I stopped by a lake this afternoon and there were hundreds of these pelicans on the lake, it was tough getting any good pics, but here's a few of the best.
This is not for the photo contest, as the lake is in Northern Illinois, but I did see a flock of these white pelicans about 20 years ago on Baldwin Lake.

I've seen them too especially in Spring when they migrate through.
2 or 3 falls ago I saw a flock of pelicans on Rend Lake near hwy 154. I could not believe my eyes but there were about 30 of them.

speaking of pelicans, when my dad was just a young-un, my grandpa, my dad and uncle would go goose hunting down to a place called ware?, i've herd it mentioned from one other person, but don't know where it is. anyways they were down in the pits and the next pit over kept skybustin @ geese over their pit, but never killin any, so finally my grandpa got so pissed off that he picked out a bird that loked like a goose fly relatively close to the neigboring skybusters, when he shot the (I'm an idiot for swearing)(I'm an idiot for swearing)(I'm an idiot for swearing)(I'm an idiot for swearing)ed thing collapsed and fell, but didn't appear to look like a goose when it fell, when they went and got it was a pelican, idk what they did with its just kinda a funny story w/ a lesson, don't skybust, u might kill a pelican lol:D
i LIKE THE LAST PHOTO HUNTRZ!
AS TO WHERE WARE IS: It is really close to trail of tears state park, cape mo and the mississippi river. You guys should prolly take Rt 3 all the way down there but for us we take 57 down and the 146 across through anna. It takes us about 45 mins to get to Cape. From what I noticed there is not much there.....
