...and didn't see a fish. But I found a bunch of these. Must be mating season.

okay..can be done a couple of ways..to post the images..go to the VB image host at the top the page and click on upload images..that will allow you to upload the images to a gallery here very similar to photobucket...then you will need to copy and paste the img code to the post..it's the code that starts and ends with [img]
You can also paste the [img] code from photobucket..I tried but only one of the photobucket pics opens..the rest give me a photobucket message that says the image has been moved or deleted?
If you still have troubles..just holler..we'll all be glad to help you get the hang of it!

okay now they are showing...I'm thinking one of the water snake varieties..the nerodia family..possibly a northern or southern..the coloration on them tends to vary and I have a terrible time id'ing a snake with out handling one ! The do usually mate in may...
somebody on here has a herpatologist friend..could probably do a much better job of a more refined id...
similar looking ones would be of course a cottonmouth.. but the adults are usually darker, with less pronounced markings and seem to me to be shorter and wider..
maybe this would help...

Northern watersnakes , absolutely. You never forget snakes that have bit the h-e-double hockey sticks out of you.Had a large female give birth to over 30 babies on Labor day.Very cool to come back home and find all the mess.

I know the feeling..they may not be poisonous but they sure do have a nasty temperment don't they? And they have a really nasty bite..isn't their thing to bite and pee both when you try to handle them? Mean little nasty tempered buggers they are..
Brett ..do you keep snakes? I just love snakes ..but Critter's phobia prevents me from having them around like I would really like to!
VERY NICE snake pics there!

I shoulda kept that beautiful corn snake I found last year... I'm not a big snake guy, but I think 1 would be fun and educational for the boys!

LOL!!
Sorry Dave. I feel that way about spiders. I'm not crazy about snakes, but if I can I'll grab one just to hold it. Spiders are different altogether. I about beat my brains out one morning last year. I was walking to my stand and walked through a web. I felt that thing walk across my forehead and I just started swingin'. I hate them things!

Gretchen I do have one serpent now. I got a ball python from a nurse my step Mom worked with.He was already over 15 years old then back in 1993.So now he is getting up there in age .I do not take him out as much as I should.I do not keep hot snakes since they changed the law in Illinois.Still love to find them all when I am at my camper down on route 3 behind what used to be Grays truck stop.It belongs to Grays grandson my buddy Randy Clover.
