A buddy of mine took 2 kids out hunting last Thursday in the pouring rain. I thought there were crazy to be out there to begin with. About 9am I got a call that one of the kids had killed a big gobbler. They called it into range and the first kid shot and missed. The bird started flying away and the other kid shot him out of the air. Upon inspecting the trophy they realized it had 5 beards totaling over 40 inches of beard. 1.25 inch spurs and 22 lbs. I put these figures into the NWTF's website and if the measurements are correct this bird will be the new #2 in Illinois all time. And it was killed by a kid. How cool is that. I haven't seen the pics yet but as soon as I do I will get one on here.
