I went and checked my cams today, I had two cams that were at risk of being drowned from our last Monsoon, when I got to the first one there was debris wrapped around sides and top of cam, and glass lens on front was fogged, so I knew it had been underwater, I opened it up to shut it off and it had water in it.

the second one I checked, the one I had set up on the dead deer looked like the water got close and the deer was gone, apparently floated away, there were 146 pics on cam, I figured it would be of debris floating by cam, but when I got home and checked disc I had over 100 pics of a bobcat eating on the deer...

here's just a small sample of them...

and then came the rains...

two hours later the creek came out of its banks and floated the deer away, it almost looks like a yote standing in the water on right...

less than 24 hours later, the water had receded and the deer was gone, what a sick April Fools day joke to play on this Cat!

I was begining to wonder if all the animals knew something about how this deer died.......

The pic with the hawk for example, didn't seem to be eating anything.

Glad to see nature take its course though.

Thats so cool!!! The one w/ a "twinkle in the eye is awesome!

FWIW, I had the same thing happen to one of my wildviews. The display is crapped out, but the cam still works. May want to see if it triggers, but doesn't register on the screen?

That's a bummer about the one camera getting flooded. Awesome pictures though.

Nice series of cats pictures.

thanks flat, I know the quality isn't even close to homebrew, the bobcat pics were from the wildview, but after losing my stealth in the flood, I may never put the homebrew anywhere there is a chance of going under, who would of thought we would get two flooding rains in a week and a half?

It is very interesting to see that deer still holding some bone. Last night on my way home from fishing I spotted a group of deer in a field. I pulled over and glassed them over not only to see a really nice 8 still holding both sides but astonishly he looked as if he was checking does and he was running a few of them around the edge of the field. Just goes to show how unpredictable deer are...

Wow that is some amazing shots of the Kitty. Sorry about the other cam. I am so impressed with the shots from the homebrew I can tell I am going to have to build one someday, those shots are impressive.

Just loved the cat series. That's one happy bobcat. And then to see the carcass floating. And then WOW that after the water went away, "the cat came back."
You've got me thinking about trail cams now also.

I guess I learned something here as I never figured a bobcat for a carrion eater. Great pics.

DD

There is a guy on one of the home brew sites that has been posting pictures of a bobcat eating a dead deer.
He has taken 2 or 3 dead deer out to the bobcat, and has posted several pictures of the bobcat eating on the carcass.

Here is one I got at a deer carcass a couple years ago.
