Not in SILO but pretty durn close.......It's a nice place to take the kiddos..admission is free and parking is free on forest park AVE..........The train and the children's zoo cost but those are optional...Overall I would consider this a pretty nice cheap place to take the family...

If you like going over there more than 2 times a year get a fam pass/membership. The things are more than worth the money!

As far as parking.............Pay the money to park. Some friends of mine parked allong the street, came out of the zoo to their kids carseat on the curb and their jeep cherokee was stolen.

The family pass is 60 bucks with 64 anytime passes..problem was with that is she wouldn't give us the passes to begin with...I guess they have to mail you the crap or whatever....If you go before 10am you get into the children's park free anyway and we didn't pay for parking because we parked across the street.....I been going there since i was little and never paid for parking, I think it's 10 bucks now....Sounds like someone had some bad luck though.....How did they get home???

You cant get the pass that day, you get it in the mail in about 3 weeks ,but When we got ours, they printed out the train tickets and stuff for us that day. It also has like 6? parking passes with it. Allong with the abillity to get discounts in the park at the vending locations. Which can help out alot. We just showed our receipt the first day we got the membership and it got us our discounts.

As for my friends, they called their family to come get them. Their vehicle was recovered 3 months later being driven by a highschool kid who said he found it outside his appartment building. With the ignition broken out.

Here's the link to that.......I guess the one we were gonna get was 36 not 64...it was the one for 60bucks.....we thought with the family and all it would be worth it .....but we didn't pay for parking and didn't have to pay to get into the children's zoo so it would have only cost to ride the train which we didn't do and since we couldn't get them that day we decided against it.....We usually just go there once a year...We ate there in there last year or the year before but that will be the last....lol.....I think it was like 25 bucks for almost nothing....lol....

We like to go there a couple times a year. With the fam pass, it makes it more feasible. Last year my daughters 3rd grade class went, Each parent that went to help got issued 5 or so kids. The pass worked great for me cause I had 5 kids all wanting a drink, ride the train, go to shows, etc...... And then it opens up other options with feeding the animals, ovenight stays in the zoo............ And other non-publicized events.

I bet....that sounds awesome..

you might consider holiday world as well ronin.............we usually do that too every year and it's free parking, free sunscreen and free unlimited pepsi drinks for the whole family..........
We stopped at the grocery store across the street and got discounted tickets.....:D

I told you bam if you go to the zoo and want to get a good place to get a burger, fries, and some other good food oh and some great root beer go to Carl's drive in - 9033 Manchester road its literally 2 miles or so from the zoo. It really is a mom and pop's place and has 8 seats to it i think (4 on each side) but it is well freaking worth it.

They actually have overnight stays in the zoo? Might want to watch out with that they might think one of the monkeys escaped

Great Zoo shots Bam!
Another option is to take the metrolink and avoid the parking issue all together...Critter and I even take the bikes (pedal) on the Metrolink, and then you have them for zooming around Forest Park.
From Memorial Day throught Labor Day, the Forest Park Shuttle runs from the Metrolink Station at Forest Park and CWE, and it just circulates throughout Forest Park and wil drop you at any attraction you choose..the rest of the year, the Hampton #90 bus does pretty much the same thing.
Ronin is absolutely right..a memebership at the zoo has lots of nifty benefits...as does one at the Botonical Garden.
If I drive, I don't ever use the pay lot..and haven't ever had any trouble...but I go lots of neighborhoods in the city without trouble that you guys would never go! LOL
For instance..I think nothing of parking on street and wandering around Washington, Taylor, etc at night either...
I think I got used to some of the neighborhoods there when my girls we still living in the city. In the ten years they lived there they only had one car stolen..and that was when they lived down on Jefferson and Shennendoah..not the best end of Jefferson..but not the worst..LOL ( I still think it got snatched for too many parking tickets...LOL)
