I finally got out to do a little trout fishing. I took two of my brothers-in-law to the trout park since they are new to trout fishing. We went on Monday so the crowd wasn't bad at all. I think the threat of rain kept a lot of people away too. I caught about twenty or so and they both caught fish. Nothing too big. It was nice to finally break out the fly rod. I am going to try to get out another day soon and fish the Meremac river for some wild trout.

I've been itching to get to the Current. I'd like to go before the aluminum hatch gets too thick.

Where do you go on the Meremac? We went by it I think on Highway 8 either before or after Pitosi while on our way back from Bennett Springs. Is this the same place where the trout park is?

Its between Steelville and St James its actually spelled Maramac Springs. Dont really know why they have a Meramac and a Maramac. Its actually a really neat place with lots of springs and good fishing. Theres still some early settlers stuff around to, like an old furnace for making cannonballs, I believe,and if you go up the hill behind the park they have a bunch of old homesteads with a little story about each one. Very scenic place.

Does this spring run all the way to Merrimac (SP) caverns, Jesse & Frank James hide out ?

Cause those dog gone Missourians can't make up any of their own names. Springfield comes to mind. Cuba, O'fallon, etc, and the road naming system is the oddest I've ever traveled...
