This used to be a good spot to shoot carp and gar. It drains into the Mississippi about 5 miles from here. When I was a kid there was a old iron bridge here. When they went to replace it they tore up the wooden floor and left it sit for several years during which time this was a MASSIVE party spot because the road deadended on each side. The place is full of them and great blue herins too. Its full of all kinds of birds . I seen a pileated woodpecker there but couldn't get my camera out fast enough.

It is indeed a sweet place..and I remember it from the party era myself...good morel area too! I may have to hang out there a little bit if there's a pileated woodpecker living there. There used to be a couple in the woods just north of our city lake but I haven't seen or heard them this year.
