What kind of paint do you guys use for your jigs? I always used the vinyl paint and this year I tried the powder. It seems to work pretty well. It takes a little bit to figure out how long to keep the jighead in the flame before you put it in the powder. I found out that if you keep the 1/100 oz trout jigs in the flame for a second too long you will melt the jighead. I am going to try heavier jigs soon. What do you use for the eyes?

jes, when we do jig heads, I don't have fingerlicken put any paint on mine. In my opinion it is a waist, but some people believe in the colored heads. He is going to paint some of his I think. Its just a matter of opinion. I figure if the great Capps and Coleman crappie pros fish with plain jig heads then why can't I. LOL!! It hasn't made a difference in my catchin, I think it is more of what's behind that jig head!!

Hey Jess, I used to use the powder a lot too. I found the best thing for heating the jig head was a heat gun like you use to remove paint. Heat the jig head dip it in the powder then another quick hit with the gun. But I agree with ESF anymore I think it is a waste of time. I use only unpainted jig heads and tube jigs and do pretty good puttin slabs in the freezer.

These baskets of slabs, gills, northern and walleye were all caught with unpainted jigs heads and tube jigs(white, chartruese and brown and chart). pretty much the only colorss I use although I keep a bunch of colors in my box. Black and black and chart work good too in most situations.

You know I'm not sure. Those belong to some of mmy buddies. I'm guessing just small trailor or tractor tubes. Mine is the newer fashione floating lid type.

Not to get off the intent of the post, but a cheap alternative to those inner tubes is a length of the foam "noodles" for kids to play with in the pool. Just wrap and cut to length. Mike
