Since the weather is getting weird...and even though it doesn't feel like it right now, it is still winter..some of us may find ourselves shooting more inside..and trying our hands at still life, portraits, etc. I thought I would share an inexpensive way to get the good lighting for these projects.

What I have found to give the truest lighting..color temp same as daylight are actually the GE DAYLIGHT 100 long life bulbs..the spiral squirrelly looking 8000 hour ones. You can use auto white balance or even daylight when using these and they will give you the truest colors and none of that funky orangish cast we so often see in indoor shots.

Pick up a couple of flex lamps..both stand and clip on and you are pretty much set without all the expense of buying high priced studio lights.

I also reccmmend using these for lighting where you do you editing..using a warmer or cooler light when you are editing will also sometimes result in what looks correct to you having a bluish or orangeish cast when viewed in good clear daylight temp light.

Another real help in doing table top set ups are the big trifold display boards from office max, staples, etc.. I have one in black and one in white and they can't be beat for making good backdrops for table top shooting. The white also can make a pretty decent reflective source in a pinch.

Yup, I love the daylight white balance on the cam gretch......even on my point and shoot.made a big differnce in my shots like out on the lake and such.......
The sky ends up more blue looking than white and blown out....Which is how it really looked when I took the pics.....

Nice tips on the other stuff as well.....Oh those last mushroom shots I took I used bryan's shoebox....maybe I need a backdrop.......lol
