Just thought I would share.

4 of us went out tuesday a.m. and ended up with 7 geese. Great morning. One of the geese weighed in at almost 13 lbs.(is that big?). Anyway here is a pic. One of the ponds that we check for ducks had 6 big white swans. I wish I had my camera. I have never seen wild swans like that.

We have actually hunted this group earlier this year. We have got a few here and there. A couple groups of guys moved in and hunted this group a bunch, so we went elsewhere.
We were driving around new years a.m. folowing the snow geese, when we decided to check the roost lake for these geese. There was probably 300 or so. We set up and within a half hour or so they all got up and flew in. They were in pretty big groups. Fun hunt except it was about 15 deg. with a real hard wind. This has been our first year chasing these things, pretty fun when it works right.

Dumb question.

One goose is a Canada goose right,

What are a bunch of them called. Is it--"I just saw a big flock of canada geese", or is it "I just saw a big flock of canadian geese." There is a small argument going on while laying in the field.

Good Luck

I call them all Canadian singly or plural..but I am not exactly well known for my great command of the English language..and now I am learning..half of what I always called canadians..may well be something else..BTW what the heck are the speckled..and what's the difference..
I need a goose id lesson I think!

They are called canada geese. The only way they are cadadian is if they are from canada. You can always tell when someone is a topwater they say "I shot a canadian goose". I say how do you know it from canada.

gretchen.... I assume you are refering to specklebellies aka white fronts. Totally differnt species then a canada. They are considerable smaller then a regular size canada, make a different noise(laughing goose), and have different marking. White front comes from the white marking after the bill. Here is a link to a speck decoy.

A group or flock of geese is called a gaggle...

Now for the trivia... a flock of crows is a murder...

Nice hunt pics thanks.

This kid who used to hunt with me called a group of geese "a flock of singles". It would makes us all laugh to where we could'nt blow our calls.:D:D
Nice job on the geese!!!

Nothing wrong with Natty light. Natty along with the beast(blue) help me have some good time when $$$ was tight. :D ALso great to take on a float or camping trip when, heaven forbid , beer might be spilled.
